NEW SHIT ... Need a board? I got some!
No Muensteria in Davidstrasse - but I'm still suffering from it. What's Muensteria? Not being able to communicate properly. Expecting people to know stuff they never heard about. Sabotaging plans at the very last minute. This is something that mostly happens in and around Muenster (hence: Muensteria, duh), and folks in and around Muenster that don't show clear symptoms of that illness probably weren't born in that region. No wait. They were certainly not born in that region. Yes, the region includes Bielefeld and such. Open your fuckin' mouths! Talk! Scream! Piss each other off if you have to, but COMMUNICATE! No wonder everybody's fleeing to the mountains or the coast.
Guess what? Our little Barcelona-adventure was cancelled yesterday, due to Muensteria. And guess what else? I'm not even pissed. I can spend a nice weekend with my girl now, those are rare enough. I could maybe even go and see the Battle Of The Year tomorrow. Or I could sit in front of the Blumentopf-Portraits I shot on wednesday and wank like mad. Well, this situation saves me quite some money now, which is good. I'm not too fond of spain anyway, especially not with 10.000+ Euros worth of equipment.
Gotta scan, like, a thousand slides today - finish up that SEAK-thingy.
Later.

Davidstrasse enjoyed the presence of some nice visitors yesterday - Blumentopf! Sepalot, Holundermann, Heinemann, Roger, and Schu had a couple teas, were asked some questions for Playboard Magazine, and we shot some nice pictures too, some of which you might be able to see on their website soon. There's one live pic of Schu I took ages ago on their page already. The concert was once again un-fuckin'-believable. The floor inside Grosse Freiheit 36 was shaking up and down as 1500 kids and grown-ups bounced like mad, and when Blumentopf went into the crowd, I went right with them into the pit and tried not to smash my video-deathlens on somebodies head. So, if there should be a Blumentopf live-video of a track called "Mach Platz" - the fish in the pit was me. Heinemann gave me some BGPs during a freestyle-session, too... "David Luther mit seiner Kamera..." Need I say that I'm stoked? I can't get that grin out of my face. Pille neither I would think. He got to know a whole bunch of well-known musicians yesterday, and returned to Duesseldorf today... Boy, he can TELL something. What an evening. Roger Rekless, thanks again for having my back in the pit! It would've been a lot harder without your help, and I greatly appreciate it. Also THANKS to Julia for all the passes and for being so calm when it was really stressful for you - you should maybe grow two extra-arms. Or a clone maybe? Could help. To bring it to a point: Yesterday was a good, good day.
I hope it continues like that... On saturday I'll make my way to Muenster, from there I'll move on to Cologne on sunday morning. In Cologne I'll board a plane to Barcelona, and I'll stay there until thursday next week. No, I am not travelling alone, and it won't be a holiday either. Tagging along are Patrick Streiter, (hopefully) Benni Dittrich, and Michel Lohmann A.K.A. The Filmer. One filmer, one photog, and two dangerous rippers - that should generate some footage. Patrick already has a battle-plan. It's gonna be crazy.
As for today, I just packed my gear, and I'll pick up my pictures from yesterday first, and then I'll pick up Laif Draasch and a friend at the train station. It's not the best weather today, but it's dry - we'll go and shoot some stuff. Keep your fingers crossed, and you might get to see it...

Danny: Berlin/Wien mit Wir Sind Helden.
Jo Marie: Busy with new advertisements concerning sci-fi-stuff (very funny), Bild München (sucks), and maybe even new Mini stuff. Tough job, but she's a tough girl, too.
Kim: Still MIA.
Me: Kinda clueless. Need tapes for my recorder, and I have to pick up some mail.
Weather good, no hangovers. Oh, falsche Sprache. Schulligung. Da ist wohl eine Weiche defekt.

They might be gone, but they won't be forgotten. Fuck. The best go first... This might be true, but it still sucks. Boardstein Magazine isn't too healthy either, which sucks just as bad. I don't want to look at my bank-account anymore, too. Albert Einstein and Douglas Adams are dead. What a sad world.
Took Pille Popstar around Hamburg yesterday, including boat-rides, skateshops, distributors, and whatnot. Part two coming up today.

Davidstrasse, there, in the house. This time it's (mostly) german only, but it might still not really be what you expect. It just started - we'll see what happens.
Driving that Volvo S80 back to the Hertz-Station was one of the saddest rides. I'll be back, alder Swede! By bus and subway I went back to the city and got myself a TWS for happiness-improvement, and then it was time to pick up Pille. Now, right at this very moment, he's helping out Jo and Valentin (they're cooking) by cutting tomatoes, and he's really trying not to hurt himself. I'm the asshole once again, doing nothing but typing senseless shit. Fuckin' nerd. I even managed to miss a conversation they had a minute ago (pretty much in front of me) about the wine we forgot to buy, and of course I had to throw in a completely out-of-context-bullshit-remark.
Please, do pray for some more of that good weather in Hamburg - I'd really like to shoot some skateboarding this week. I'll shoot someone else, too - Blumentopf! They'll be in Hamburg on wednesday, giving interviews and presenting their new album "Gern Geschehen" live on stage. They really rock live, so I'm very happy about getting to see them in my neighbourhood.
What else... Nothing, really... Our place is tidier than ever, all that paper in front of the door and all those old bottles are gone, I am hungry, and dinner is ready.
Cheers!

www.beginner.de - news ... I wish, I could share better Beginner News. Eimsbush is bankrupt - at least that's what the HH Morgenpost says. I hope they make it out of this unscathed. It would be a terrible loss. Keep it up!

Saturday
Had to wake up way too early in order to be in Aurich in time - I thought Aurich would be kinda around the corner, but as a matter of fact, it's almost as far from Hamburg as Muenster. The drive is nicer though. The S80 cruises at an average felt altitude of 1 foot above the ground, and does an easy 220. The last 40km Autobahn I shared with an E-Class 240 Benz... We were pretty much alone on the freeway, and we were just flooring it - that uncle inside the other car had as much fun with that as I had. It was almost like flying a jet with a wingman, perfect weather, and Lumidee or Sean Paul blasting out of the speakers. Great fun, really.
The competition was fun, too. The skatepark in Aurich is larger and huger than any indoor-skatepark I've seen, and it's not even done yet! There's a bunch of really, REALLY good skaters here, too, so you can imagine what happened today... People were going off. Judging was a real task, and so was hosting the event - my throat is already raw. But there was some amazing skateboarding... Michael Mackrodt from Munich has boardcontrol, it's simply un-fuckin'-believable. Stefan Lehnert skated very consistent too, but Keno Ringering took first place for today, going straight to the finals. Keno is a local kid, and he was the only competitor out of over 60, that really earned some noise from the crowd - even before his runs. I mention this, because the crowd was awfully picky. No performance, no roar - not even a single clap. One kid just had bad luck in his run and stopped riding at half time, so I asked the audience if they would really just let him go like that. Usually the crowd tries to push someone like that, but not Aurich. It was as silent as a rock. Pretty harsh. But at least they sticked around, so I think they didn't hate it - they just didn't waste any energy if someone didn't perform up to their expectations. Tough audience. It'll be better tomorrow though. Skatemedic Soehnke, Schroeder, Rodi and I are off to eat. Catch you tomorrow - it's gonna be a killer-final.
Sunday
And a killer-final it was. Michael Mackrodt was the first rider in the finals, and his first run remained unmatched - by far. It was about time Michael won a competition, because he skates just too good. So much talent, so much style, so much height and perfection in every single trick, it's really amazing. So much fun to watch. Congrats Michael, have fun with those 1000 Euros. DJ Mimi took 7th place, which means he didn't manage to become German Champion before it really was the time to be so. He'll have to work hard in Muelhausen in november. I mean, he's still leading when it comes to the overall ranking, but lil' Thomas Weber is not that far behind him anymore. Oh, the thrills. Can't wait.
My girl can't wait, either - gotta get off the computer. Check www.clubofskaters.de tomorrow or tuesday for detailed results. Later!
