Oh!

So you wanna know what's happening?

As I mentioned, Cypress Hill seems to happen the week after next week. Today we're going to Bielefeld to celebrate the 60th birthday of my father. Davidstrasse is busy. I'd rather have my head in a bowl filled with ice, and I think so does Jo. We had a nice little evening yesterday and she managed to become shitfaced off two or three cuba libres. Me jealous? Maybe a little.

Have a nice weekend!

Chickencounting

I should have kept my mouth shut. Yesterday evening I was told that "Cypress might happen a week later". More details for me today. To kill time and anxiousness I'm going to tidy up a little, I'm going to spank a monkey and bat around penguins.

Enough of those funny links for now. Here you'll find some interesting news from the skateboard-world. Read on.

It's on.

Word up. So, what's all those Xs about? Here you go... They stand for L.A., Cypress Hill and a couple of magazines that will still remain nameless at this point (no counting chickens before they are hatched). It's a sealed deal. Isn't that sick? Couldn't have imagined that in my wildest dreams. Four days Los Angeles... Too bad I don't really have money to blow right now - I could use two new flashes and a couple of Pocket Wizards. No new gear for me at this point though, sorry. Gives me a good excuse not to go shopping for anybody else though - if it's not life-saving, don't bother asking me, thank you very much. Hey, it's only four days, I don't have time to shop anyway! I'm gonna be busy hanging out with rap superstars... Uhm, no, not really. There will be a pre-listening session (new album dropping march), and a hopefully long interview and fotoshoot. It's gotta be long enough to feed three to five magazines with different stuff. Hey... That sounds like work! Bummer. Another bummer is that I'm gonna miss out on Redman and Method Man - they're in Hamburg (Große Freiheit) on the 28th. Some guy from Juice Magazine and another freelancer will be on that trip to L.A. as well. I hope I get to hook up with some of the skaters I know there... Would be nice to meet them again, it's been a while. Four days are not a lot of time though, especially when you share a rental with two other guys. Each one of them will have a plan for themselves. I'm just happy that I'm gonna be the one picking up the car... So much for next week. Got questions you'd like to be asked? Feel free to mail! cypresshill@davidluther.com is the address. Now go ahead and drain your mind.

This week I get to interview DJ Friction (new album "Soulsonic" march 1st) and a band called Zinoba (which contains two members of Selig) at Smudo's place in Hamburg. Smudo is a lucky bastard. I've never been to his place, but the map says he lives right across the street from one of Hamburg's finest restaurants. Fine meaning it's huge, still cozy, has the most excellent food, affordable prices, and a really nice atmosphere. It's quite a walk from my house, so I don't get to eat there as often as I'd like to (there's tons of nice restaurants in my area as well, so most of the time we don't bother walking far, or even taking the subway train). I'm thrilled that I finally get to meet Smudo - I've been following the career of Die Fantastischen Vier very closely for over ten years now, yet I never got to meet the man. Same thing here: Questions to Zinoba: zinoba@davidluther.com. Questions to DJ Frico: djfriction@davidluther.com

Remember "At the Helm" by Hieroglyphics? It's playing as I type this, but I seem to prove them wrong.

"Life is a blast when you know what you're doin
Best to know what you're doin 'fore your life get ruined
Life is a thrill when your skill is developed
If you ain't got a skill or trade, then shut the hell up"

I have no fucking clue what I'm doing (at least not in my upper consciousness). But life is still a blast. I still don't know whether I earned all this (or if I'm ruining it, for that matter), but I sure as hell appreciate it to the fullest. And now, after we watched "Dogma" yesterday evening, I finally know who this X is, that I have to thank: Alanis Morrisette AKA She-God. Thank you very much.
